Wine Growing Regions
Due to more favourable climatic conditions most winegrowing regions are located in the eastern part of the country. You will however find winegrowing to a smaller extent all over the rest of Austria as well.
The federal states of Niederösterreich (28,145 ha), Burgenland (13,100 ha) and Steiermark (4,633 ha) are defined as distinct wine regions, there are also 17 other wine regions, including Wien (637 ha) and the area Bergland with five winegrowing regions (Kärnten, Oberösterreich, Salzburg, Tirol, Vorarlberg).
